While I’m reposting the warning regarding NerdAbides, I mind as well air out another scammer who has not paid me. I do NOT have invoices for this one because this was before I used invoices. For anyone who is familiar with my repertoire, you might remember the Launch selfie.
I was NOT paid for this.
I told BlackKnife12 my policy when it comes to commissions (I will ask for the payment after the sketch). For some reason, like a nice goober, I let him wait for the finish. He also was adamant about only paying me after the finished commission rather than before. Here are the interactions I had with BlackKnife12 regarding the commission for the Launch drawing.
We discussed payment and we agreed on payment immediately after the finish. Instead of being paid on that week, Blackknife12 decided to go silent and never talk to me again.
I’d like to say for the record that this guy is a GODDAMN CORE MEMBER on dA. He has not paid me and he refuses to talk to me regarding the commission. Please avoid this guy at all costs. He has wasted way too much of my time and I would never wish bullshit like this upon my WORST enemy. If you know any other dA artists.

I can understand that someone has a difficult situation or something, I’m fine with holding the payment for one, two week, but whole month is way too much. I was writing to her, she told me that she already transferred the money, when I was asking her again, later, she told that she will try to pay, and she never scam on anyone. When I asked another week later, she just began to ignore me, lie and didn’t reply”

If you have money involved in a situation, realize that effort and time are pivotal to us. Commissions make us work doubly hard not only to impress our client, but to also attract more clients. On top of that, we must be timely to prevent the ever-brooding “This Artist is a scammer” forum post on Hentai-Foundry. Not everyone doing this is a hobbyist who is fine with not being paid for their efforts. Plumpie Bombshell, NerdAbides, Beyondhergrave, Blackknife12 and anyone from Artists Beware make establishing avenues of trust with clients difficult because of these scamming tactics, such as withholding money, “having a dispute with PayPal” or otherwise (whether they are aware of it or not). We as artists have so many other responsibilities in a day, from answering tumblr questions, chasing other commissions and doing FREE collaborations to streaming monthly, weekly or even DAILY and updating our many website outlets to stay relevant (oh yeah and we have to find time to render/draw on top of all of that). It should NOT be our responsibility to chase you for more than a month to collect on commission money. We don’t have lawyers, agents or representatives to investigate such taxing infringements. We don’t have muscle. We’re not the mob. The mob would probably break all of our knees (except for the people who didn’t skip leg day). We don’t want to come off as harassing or antagonizing to the people we go after, but we also don’t have the patience to wait for months for money to come through. Yes, some of us do this for free. Some of us also do this as side money. Some of us do this part time. Some of us do this full time. Understand that by playing with commission money, you may be playing with someone’s livelihood. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: I’m not shaming anyone with this post nor am I trying to sick loyalists on anyone for scamming me or others, I’m recounting my experiences and sharing the experiences of others.
If you are still a white knight for anyone who does this behavior and believe I’m exaggerating, or you are directly responsible for conducting such actions, I want you to do me a favor and look at this picture of Mako eating rice:

We’ve finally discussed payment. Please. If you’re white knighting for me now. Stop immediately. I think we’ve reached an agreement that works for the time being. While I do feel bad for giving someone hell, which is something I never really do on the internet, at least we’ve finally come to a resolution.
But clients. Please. Please PLEASE. Communicate with us. Not talking to us when it comes to commissions leads to things like this. Again. It’s not our jobs to chase you for money for weeks on end. Be straight with us about money. If you can’t pay, say you can’t pay. DON’T SAY “I WANT TO WAIT FOR THE FINISH”. DON’T WITHHOLD REASONS FOR NOT PAYING. You have to treat us with a level of respect…
I want to formally and publicly apologize to Blackknife12 if he’s been getting threats from white knights or anybody else who’s lashing out “on my behalf”.
