I don’t think shutting down a mobile news app is going to reinvent the wheel, but I do find it strange that Verizon is pulling a power play like snatching the Yahoo News app from mobile shelves at the end of the month. Honestly, I still buy my papers or spend an extra 15 minutes in the coffee shop to read the stories I need to. I’ve never been much of a mobile news junkie, especially since there are plenty of alternatives to Yahoo News (twitter, physical news papers, the NYT app, the WSJ website, hell even The Economist allows for free and low price online reading).
