It’s been awhile since I’ve actually posted on here…hell this blog could even be considered dead but I’ve been busy working on some IRL stuff and trying to get my motivation and self-confidence up for drawing again. After much chatter with some very good art friends… @vogolsart specifically, I finally sat down and did something.
I’m challenging myself to do some sketches of artwork by a particular artist each day in order to familiarize myself with many different elements of art at once. I learn a lot better by doing shit and another artist I found even stated that knocking out queues of art on a regular basis is a damn good way to get better faster. Taking up that advice, I am sketching Asa’s work beginning with his piece of Hong Meiling from Touhou. It took me 2 ½ hours to sketch this. You can check out the original in the link.
I plan on posting a lot of rough sketches going forward, at least one a day or every two days would be optimal so I can build progress. Anyways, I look forward to sharing my journey here. And here’s to hoping I can get good…or just decent enough to where I don’t punch myself in the face over this.
